I can’t just sit back and look at the current state of affairs without needing to try and feel good for a second. You read this blog? You’re probably someone who shares a deep sense of affliction right now based on the current state of affairs. I don’t want to seem like some kind of a neo-hippie or a flipster (a flowery hipster), but I can take the heat for that — what the world needs now is love.
I don’t care where it comes from, what brings it about or how we get there. It seems as if we suddenly live in a world transformed into a hateful quagmire of war mongering and bully pulpits, a place where those with the most power are prepared to wield it for their own gain at great expense to the rest of us. It’s scary. All of our leaps forward in learning to relate to the conditions of our humanity are threatened to be wiped away by people who place no value on the quality of human life, much less life itself.
When I reach this level of discontent, I go one of two directions really quickly — today’s preferred choice is to dance in the face of immense adversity.
I love disco music. I always have. I’ve been listening to it forever & I keep finding new disco songs that never got much play around me. But there’s a few that I just come back to every single time, especially during the times when I feel like I do. So, here’s some monday Disco that I hope will put you in the mood to do….something.
Jamiroquai - Canned Heat (Calvin Harris Remix)
Chic - My Forbidden Lover (Friend Mix)
Jamiroquai - Don’t Give Hate a Chance
Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart (Red & Blue Mix)
Paul Lewis - Girl, You Need A Change of Mind
Kano - Holly Dolly
Ecstasy, Passion & Pain featuring Barbara Roy - Touch & Go
