Yesterday I told you about “The Sun Can’t Compare” by Larry Heard Presents Mr. White blowing up on dancefloors all over the world, including an upcoming appearance on a Fabric compilation. Well, thank your lucky stars, I got a copy of the new Fabric 34 Mixed By Ellen Alien today and i’m happy to report it’s a monster. Fabric’s compilations have become the stuff of legend over the last few years, consistently reinventing and re-igniting movements in electronic music through definitive DJ artistry and technique.
Ellen Alien, head of Berlin’s BPitch Control Records and extraordinary talent on the one’s and two’s, injects an impermeable simplicity into her Fabric mix which leaves the listener completely hypnotized. Her selections and their integration into her vision for this piece create a poetic groove that pulls together the disparate elements of the tracks on its stellar playlist, highlighted by selections from Cobblestone Jazz, Damien Schwartz, Thom Yorke, Apparat and Larry Heard Presents Mr. White.
For fans of electronic music, never has a movement been so fortunate as to have a catalog of consistent remixes as the Fabric and Fabriclive series have become. Fabric 34 is no exception to this rule and, some may argue after being taken in by it’s clever arrangement and style, is the highlght of the entire Fabric series.
