Here’s an unexpected, daft and simply terrific re-edit from Hamburg’s Tensnake of Radiohead’s “Everything In It’s Right Place” which might be new or … might not be? Either way, I love it.

*Old Man Voice* “Waaaaay back in ’89, I got dragged by a buncha n’eer-do-wells from my College Radio Station to see some ol’ mystery band name of Sykurmolarnir at this club name of CBGB‘s. You whippersnappers are too young to remember that place, but it was, what is it you kids say these days? …..it was THE SHIT!!!

Anyhoo, we got piss drunk on whatever was on tap up in thar, all of us smashed like sardines that aint been properly introduced & a lil’ ol’ band o’fellers and ladies came-a stumbling out and started hollerin’ at people in some language called Icelandic that I ain’t never heard of ‘fore. Turned out, they weren’t nothin’ but them people from The Sugarcubes pretending to be somebody else and makin’ fun of us stupid American folks, and this here Bjork girlie, well….she was up there just a-hootin’ and a-hollerin’ and a carryin’ on in a mighty fine way. Your grandpa here? Welllll……I became downright smitten that night, and the rest, as they say, is history. We fell in love and decided we was gettin’ married right thar on that very stage that very night…. Course, me and your other grandpa, we had to wait 21 years and move back to New York City to tie the knot….

But anyhoo, we just love that dern Bjork and we sure are happy to know she’s still makin’ them there records. Turns out, she’s putting out a new’un name of Biophilia ’round about September. Apparently, she’s gone and collaborated with them people at that Apple Computer to make it into some new-fangled app, so make sure you get you one-a them fancy iPhone thingies if’n you want one of us to buy it for you when it comes out.”

I’m a sucker for a good back story. So when I stumbled upon the Wikipedia entry for “ghost estates” while searching for the band of the same name and found out that the term refers to abandoned houses from a boom and bust in Ireland called the Celtic Tiger period,  I was pretty much smitten (luckily it turns out ).

These guys have played together for about a year and a half after the members’ two previous bands — Sickboy and 8Ball — collapsed. They recorded their debut album as Ghost Estates at Sun Studios Temple Bar. (In the Temple Bar district of Dublin, not to be confused with that other place with a similar name.) The album was mixed by Marc Carolan, whose previously worked with Muse, Snow Patrol and The Cure.  According to the rather sparse information that’s available on the band at the minute, the plan is to release singles throughout 2011 as they tour (nationally, for now: only Ireland dates have been announced thus far).

The first single is called “Paris,” and while I’m hesitant with only the one single in my ears to start drawing comparisons, you’ll probably like these guys if you like Passion Pit, Blonde Redhead, Animal Collective and the like. It’s electronic, it’s ethereal in places and poppy in others. Something about it is working, though. I pressed play on this track no less than four times yesterday.

Yet another new, unreleased Sade track surfaced today from her forthcoming album The Ultimate Collection, something that more traditional Sade fans can probably get with. Enjoy.

Sade is on fire with The Ultimate Collection preparing to drop & her equally-recent remix of “The Moon and The Sky” featuring Jay-Z . “Love Is Found” continues to emphasize her jazz roots then steps forward with a modern, more subtly aggressive & orchestrated Middle Eastern-style beat to support her stellar vocals. This song will appear on the forthcoming album, but you can hear it today.

Sometimes I get around to things fast, and sometimes I wait for them to simmer. It’s never really my intention to forget bands that are headed to SXSW. But Paris-based Chateau Marmont‘s songs have been in rotation here since the end of February, and it probably should have been much sooner.

The group consists of Julien Galinier, Guillaume De Maria, Angy Laperdrix & Raphaël Vialla who, having done a series of remixes for La Roux, Heartsrevolution, Ladyhawke, and Röyksopp over the past year (to name a few), have released 2008-2009-2010, a compendium of their three exceptional electronic music EP’s, Solar Apex EP, Nibiru EP and the Nibiru Remixes EP along with one track which appears on Kitsuné Maison Compilation 7.

Chateau Marmont’s single, “One Hundred Realities”, as with everything I’ve heard from Chateau Marmont, is a spacey mix of both Kraftwerk and Giorgio Moroder-influenced Italo-Disco that doesn’t bore itself with trying to fit in with conventional modern techno at all. It’s comfortable to reside on the plains with it’s 80′s counterparts, unashamed that it could just as easily have ended up on the soundtrack for Scarface or American Gigolo.

In addition to 2008-2009-2010, Chateau Marmont has also offered C-M-X Tape for free download, filled with rare electro and disco tracks. My only regret was that I didn’t have the chance to have seen them when they came to the U.S. just two weeks ago. My wish is that they return as soon as possible so that I can.

I didn’t listen yet so I don’t know what it sounds like, but feel free to offer your thoughts on this track being streamed at All Songs Considered from NPR. It comes from The Walkmen’s new album Lisbon due 14 September from Fat Possum Records.

The Walkmen’s latest album, Lisbon, isn’t due out until Sep. 14, but we’ve got a sneak preview of one of the standout tracks. “Stranded” is an incredibly soulful piece with some beautiful horn parts that sound like something pulled from a 1950s Sun Studio session. We first heard the cut when The Walkmen performed it live at our South by Southwest showcase in March.

Lungs Quicken by Lanterns on the Lake

I have never dropped a track by The Salsoul Orchestra that didn’t make people dance. This is the funky, ass-shaking disco that makes the party jump, and if you’re a DJ, I hope this isn’t news to you. If you don’t know who they are, you can read up on them via Wikipedia here.

One of the Salsoul Orchestra’s projects, The Salsoul Invention, produced an album’s worth of what aficionados consider crown jewels of serious funk/disco/dance tracks back in 1976-77. Among my favorite is this one, “Soul Machine”. Good Groove did a bangin’ re-edit of it, and now you can drop it at your party too. If you bump this up to 120bpm and it doesn’t fill a dance floor, find another place to DJ.

I guess we’re going to start off this Music Monday with a sweet electro track from the remix team of Luca C & Brigante. The remix of Ali Love‘s new single, “Diminishing Returns” (which is out in limited release) comes from his debut album, due in 2010. You may not know Ali Love off the bat, but if you heard the Chemical Brothers’ smash “Do It Again”, you’ve definitely heard his pipes. Enjoy this free track & LETS GO.
